ISSUE FIVE

Letter from the Editors

Dear readers,

Issue Five is here! We hope you are as excited about the art and writing in this issue as we are––we would like to applaud all the artists featured for their generosity in allowing us to share their wonderful creations.

This issue, we are excited to announce a new interactive feature. Through the contact form below, you can send a kind message to any artist whose work you enjoyed, and we will pass it on for you! Our mission is to showcase voices from as many diverse backgrounds and perspectives as possible. We are so happy to announce that Flare is now read in over fifty-six countries and nearly every US state (still waiting on North Dakota!) We want to encourage all our readers to consider submitting, or simply sharing the art they enjoyed with family and friends.

Some other exciting news: this summer, Flare had the opportunity to support BLOOM, an organization affiliated with the United States  CDC, to help create more inclusive resources in middle-grade health curriculum for schools across the US. What a great way to kick off our second annual cycle of publication!

Send a message, share the issue, and happy reading!

~ Michelle, Editor-in-Chief @flarejournal

D.C. Copeland received a B.A. in English from Yale University and an M.A. from New York University.   The Commonline Journal published Copeland’s  poem “For Those At Work” and aaduna magazine featured Copeland’s  “To You Who Read These Lines”” as the last poem in their special "Poetry Month" edition.   Several of Copeland's plays have been world-premiered including “Play”, “The Undiscovered Country” and the one-act entitled “Forget-Me-Not” which placed as a finalist for Manhattan Repertory Theatre’s One Act Festival.  At Yale, Copeland began a seventeen-year mentoring relationship with literary critic, Harold Bloom, also acting as his literary assistant on several books including The Best Poems of The English Language.
